Beauty and violence

How do we represent this beauty without acknowledging the violence that is also there? The focus on beauty alone could be escapist, even expressing a flat denial. On the other hand, showing beauty could be interpreted as a protest against a violent world, or a reminder of the possibility of an alternative world. I think it is okay to concentrate on beauty, as long as we do not deny the horror out there.
