1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, all the children go to Heaven

There is talk about what this sculpture means. I have made this statement: when you enter Rectory Lane Cemetery in Berkhampstead (Hertfordshire) you will come across this sculpture (by Chris Stokes, 2020). Its somewhat erratic title is "Genesius Contemporalis". Others call it the "Steel Angel of the South" and, then again, and perhaps closer to the original intention, it has been dubbed "The God of Contemporary Performing Arts". To me, and visiting the place on Easter Sunday, I cannot repress the feeling that here, among all the graves (7000 of them), somebody is leaving and, actually, flying away. In our time, when the access to salvation has been democratised, it can only mean that everybody will eventually fly away. No privileges! Not salvation for the few only! The trip to Heaven must not be like the desperate escape from Saigon or Bhagdad. Everybody can and will eventually go. Some good news. Fuji X-E2.

I don't see why I should change my mind. Even less so, when you notice that the sculpture has a retractable canopy on its wings. Under this canopy everybody is included. Here Comes Everybody. Howth Castle and Environs. Haroun Childeric Eggeberth. How Charmingly Exquisite! And Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker.
