Inner beauty

A photographic friend commented on one of my images of dying tulips that what did matter was not the flower's present state, but its inner beauty. I wanted to reflect on this and took another tulip that is on the way out, into my study. It is difficult to avoid the analogy with old age and dying. Like this tulip, I will eventually go. Step by step, and increasingly losing my physical and mental coherence. So, what about my "inner beauty"? If there is such a thing, others might be the first to discover it. I don't think they have. I would not use the adjective "beautiful" for describing my interior landscape. But I have got memories and can work with these. I can apply some of them to this dying tulip and see myself.
