Knowest thou where?

The lemon blossom grows? Knowest the house, its roof on columns fine? And marble figures stand and gaze at me: what have they done, oh wretched child, to thee?

One daylight LED lamp and two LED spotlights in a dark room. Processed in Luminar. Quotation is from Goethe's poem of the same title. The parameters of this 18th century romanticism seem strange to us today (hardly any lemons in antiquity, and the statues used to be painted; not to speak of slavery). The yearning, however, for this or any other comparable utopian place is timeless. Walking, not sitting.
