Nocéra Umbra.

The hilltown of Nocéra Umbra stands in the ranges east of Perugia. Somewhat remote, not famed, Nocéra's pleasant atmosphere and coherence of form tuck well into its mountain environs.

Architectural impact lies in the visual morphology of the compact townlet.

It has been undergoing painstaking restoration which we observe as we walk up the hill through a warren of back-streets.

At the top we find the duomo, begun in the 11thC and rebuilt mid 15thC. The skyline tower close by belonged to the Trinci barons.

And as we leave Nocéra, we see wooded hills provide a backdrop to the articulate form, and the edge of bordering forest neatly defines the town.
