Exploring the unknown

I am currently preparing for an art show in San Jose, California, called Travel Perspectives: Explore | Experience | Connect. I'll exhibit this photo at the gallery. In 2015 we spent a few days in Colorado. Silver Plume is a former silver mining camp west of Denver. We went to an abandoned silver mine just above the town. The mine entrance was easy to recognize, just follow the rusty rails. I could crawl into the mine a few meters until it was blocked with a metal gate. I took a few long exposure shots into the darkness through the gate. Only after downloading to the computer did I realize the beauty with earthy colors, reflections, patterns, and disruption in patterns.

 

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I had difficulty to focus in the darkness, so I set the aperture to f/8 and shot in manual mode with a time delay to increase the odds of a sharp photo. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
