Unidentified object

On Sunday we went hiking in the Tennessee Valley near Mill Valley north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Northern California. It's much cooler at the coast, nice for hiking. We reached the coast with a sand beach. A foreign object protruded from the sand. Anybody knows what this was? FWIW, the beams are parallel to the shoreline.

I processed a paintery and a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
