The Lower House at Hakone Gardens has a beautiful stone garden, perfect for meditation. This Japanese garden is located in Saratoga, California.
For this shot I chose a one-point perspective where all lines lead to a single point in the distance. Director Stanley Kubrick used this composition extensively in his films The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut and Paths of Glory.
I processed a paintery and a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the curves and colors to pop the scene.
