Recently we passed by Mono Lake in California. The lake has iconic tufa towers. You can see the Milky Way - it was new moon, there is no light pollution.

 

The Milky Way is our galaxy. From the latest Hubble telescope observation we learned that there are at least 100 billion galaxies in the universe. We are just tiny tiny creatures in this vast space.

 

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the curves and color balance.
