We went to Nevada's Black Rock Desert over the weekend to participate in a rocket launch event. On Saturday night we cooked a nice steak and had wine for dinner - yumm! At sunset I placed the wine glass on the playa and started shooting the glass against the sun. It was a beautiful scene with this very low angle of the sun.
My friend played around with his quadcopter - he was taping me from above while I was crouching down to take pictures of the wine glass. At one point he flew very low, and by accident decapitated the glass with a rotor blade. Shards of glass and wine splattered all around, and by coincidence I captured everything at the right moment! Oh, in case you wonder, we are still best friends!
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure and carefully pulled the curves. I also removed lens flare below the quadcopter.
