Self Reflection
This Vervet Monkey (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) was quite young when this photo was taken. His mother had been attempting to persuade him to begin doing his own thing just before. It looked like a fairly tough negotiation and his mum didn't seem to make any concessions at all.
Shortly after, when I shot this, he was sitting alone and began to inspect his hands. He didn't sit like this for very long, perhaps ten seconds or so, and shortly afterwards, attempted to reopen negotiations with his mother.
