Santa Caterina is one of those peaceful elegant places that immediately makes your mind go to I wonder how I could live here and while wandering around the medieval charm you wonder which of these places are empty that might be for sale but not advertised, oh the small day dreams it creates. The area’s main economic activity is the cultivation of citrus fruits, olives, figs, peaches and grapes though not a lot of rain falls it is a very fertile area, besides growing there is also the processing of olives to oil and grapes to wine. Though you would not notice as a visitor looking about, in July 1983 a terrible fire broke out at the foot of the village in the north-west corner, driven by strong winds it climbed up the village destroying 67 houses, 2 churches and 2 palazzo an event still fresh in the minds of some.
I took this on Sept 18th 2023 with my D850 and Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 at 82mm, 1/250s, f11 ISO 1600 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,Topaz, and DXO
