Magnificent Mainz-9
St. Augustine's is situated in the heart of the city center and It suffered only a little damage during the Second World War, it is one of the few churches in the area that survived with an intact interior of the period.
The main altar is unique in that it depicts God at the death of Christ with "Mankind's Book of Sins" torn up, debt paid in full. The nave and the choir are combined in this design a common Rocco style element and the ceiling and walls seem to blend together making the viewer feel as if the design is of one plan.
Even though this church is filled with elaborate ornamentation it has sense of peacefulness and reflection that has a profound calming effect welcome from the hustle and bustle on the Augustinerstrasse.
Disclaimer: Not trying to be realistic in my editing there is enough realism in the world, my style is a mix of painterly and romanticism as well as a work in progress.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 15-30 2.8 G2 Lens processed in LR and DXO Nik
