Terranova occupies a privileged position with respect to all the hiking trails to the heart of the Pollino National Park . As soon as you leave the city center, the road that climbs around 1000 meters towards the town of Casa del Conte offers almost immediately breathtaking scenery.
Overcoming, in fact, the ancient barrier on the current course of the Sarmento in which in geological times, due to natural causes, obtained that fissure in the limestone rock that constitutes the gorge called the Garavina (through which the waters of the small glacial lake flowed the whose background is now occupied by the houses of the district called Paraturo , part of the village of Casa del Conte), you can admire this natural spectacle that is only the first taste of the scenarios offered by the most hidden places of the Park.
