Whitewash Lichen (Phylctis argena)
Seen recently in Gloucestershire on the bark of a felled beech tree.
Apparently the genus name comes from the obsolete medical term 'phlyctidium' meaning a large blister. The specie name 'argena' is from the Latin for silver (argentum).
