When The Children Are Gone..
I spent my childhood summers on Öland...
There were more children on the beaches back then...
Today I am back home in the suburbs. The football field is empty, the basketball court as well. Not even the smallest ones play in the park...
There are thousands of families living here...
Time and time again while Im out shooting along the coastlines or just walking in the middle of the city, I wonder, where are all the children that should be out playing and running?...
It´s empty like some scary movie...
When I browse through pictures from India, Africa, Asia, or even in the south parts of Europe I often see kids running, playing, and just living life to the fullest. I find it exotic all of a sudden...it makes me smile, I even envy it, the vibrant life that I remember from before...
I don´t know, but I imagine that these kids aren´t born into rich families/countries.
They can´t afford Xboxes, computers, Ipads or Iphones. All these "things" are still for adults, if even that. They aren´t corrupted by the instant gratification facebook and other social medias gives you. They still haven´t been hooked by the tech drug...they still live, for real.
Many "profets" say that our new technology will be our doom..
I sense that it´s true...."WE" is getting replaced by "ME"...
