Time at Polesden Lacey
This is the newly-restored clock tower and cupola at Polesden Lacey House, the beautiful National Trust property in Surrey. It’s one of the most significant elements of the building; a tower that can be seen from all directions.
The four clock faces were removed, repainted and restored back to the original paint scheme, and the hands and numerals have been returned to their former glory of 24-carat gold leaf.
Reason for all this is that the clock tower has been leaking, so work was required to avoid further leakage and damage. At the same time, specialists have also carried out essential conservation elsewhere in the house to stone, brick, render, timber and leadwork. The house was built in 1821 and remodelled in the early 1900s,
