Puncture cause

This piece of metal caused an immediate flat tyre. Half of the square end was visible while the rest was actually inside the tyre. I have now installed a tyre liner which I hope will reduce the risk of punctures. Along the local lanes, thorns from hedge trimming quite often cause slow punctures which I am not aware of and get home safely. The next day is when you find out about those punctures. I hope the tyre liners reduce the puncture risk.
