Cuckoo Wasp ~ Holopyga ventralis

 

A Cuckoo Wasp rests after a Florida afternoon downpour on a blade of grass. This stunning insect gets its name because of the fact that it does not build its own nests, but parasitizes other wasp nests with its eggs and leaves for the other wasp species to develop its young.
