Plucking trees like toothpicks
Vast tracts of Canadian forests have been clearcut, destroying ecosystems and soils that have taken thousands of years to evolve, and often leaving a wasteland. It's largely out of the public eye because logging companies leave a narrow buffer of uncut trees beside the highway. In many cases, it also makes little economic sense.
