Black-capped Chickadee - Mésange à tête noire

This is a species that is a year-round resident in our area, and a vocal and social presence in the woods, even when most other species have gone south. Their activity brightens winter days in the woods, just as the change in their vocalizing signals the advent of spring and breeding season.

 

I don’t often photograph them, but the late winter light, enhanced by late snow, creates some special opportunities.
