Petit-duc maculé - Eastern Screech-Owl
I have been trying to spend an hour a day walking outside, as lack of access to gyms and working from home take their toll. I rarely bring my camera, but recent reports had indicated the presence of a new Screech-Owl near the trails (many thanks to David Burt!). I had not had any luck with the Owl, and was focusing more on the walking, when it appeared this week. I was lucky to have a few minutes alone with it as the light faded. These birds tend to become more animated just before dusk, preparing for the evening’s hunt, and while a tripod is almost necessary when it is a bit darker there was enough light for me.
