Hermit Thrush - Grive solitaire

This bird is one of a small group of Hermit Thrushes - by some reports numbering eight - that have been resident in a section of the woods by the Lake for a couple of weeks. I have been able to observe several Thrushes in the same area, including Swainson’s and Gray-cheeked. I managed to secure several images, but this is among my favourites, as the bird settled in the shade of a small tree, backlit and revealing some of the fall colours in the background. The bird in this image profiles its distinctive field mark: the reddish tail feathers that stand out from the duller brown body.
