Great Blue Heron - Grand héron
A juvenile Great Blue Heron has been visiting Mud Lake for a month or so, and some of the visits have been pretty memorable. This pose, at the south end of the Lake, was at last light a few weeks ago, and a couple of lucky people with cameras - including me, out at a time of day I don’t usually visit the Lake - had fun watching and recording the bird’s hunting and preening.
By the way - in Calgary tonight, where it is snowing.
