Spruce Grouse

We were lying in the wet snow in Algonquin, delighted to be close to very relaxed male Spruce Grouse - two of them were resting in the morning, and effectively sitting for portraits. Suddenly, from a corner of the densely-wooded area, another bird popped up, and walked cautiously around the perimeter of the area. This is not a great portrait, but it captures the experience of being parked in the snow and having this amazing experience, rare for me, of incredible birds just showing up. Thanks to Paul and Jodie for including me on an amazing trip.Later investigation by Paul identified this as a female.
