Staying Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed

A Columbian Ground Squirrel at Cascade Ponds, Banff. This is one of several common species of ground squirrel in the Canadian Rockies. I got some funny looks from a couple of bemused locals when I was lying flat on the ground photographing this individual.
