Return to the Moors
With the easing of lockdown, I made my first trip in months to the local moors over the weekend. I had a special encounter with 6 Ring Ouzels and a couple of Wheatears, all happily feeding in short grass on the moorland edge whilst I sat quietly and watched for an hour or so. At one point, all the birds suddenly scattered and moments later, a male Merlin zoomed by, low to the ground, on a failed attack. I took this image as the birds tentatively made their way back to the area they were feeding before being rudely disturbed.
