Elephant Talk, Elephant Walk

Sunset, the night before we set out to track desert adapted elephants. After a long, off road drive, and a flat tire, we eventually found a large herd on the edge of the desert. We even had a picnic while we sat and watched them. Another magical moment. Among their many amazing adaptations, they have learnt sustainability, only partially eating trees and bushes, and not uprooting them as they do in Botswana and Etosha. This allows the fragile ecology to survive and support them. How did they work that out? I asked, but they wouldn't answer :-) Title in deference to the amazingly talented Adrian Belew.
