17th November 1966

The opening of New Trees quarry included construction of a new railway, passing to the east of Chamberlain's Barn quarry, to join the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway near Vandyke Road level crossing.

This derailment, on 17th November 1966, appears to have been caused by the wagons 'splitting' the facing points at the passing loop which was at the line's highest point.
