Double Arches - Winter 1962/63

Much of the worked out areas were, over the years, allowed to fill with water thus providing a supply for the sand washing plants. The water recirculated enabling the dirty silt to settle out en route.

The large area in this view was frozen over for several weeks during the first quarter of 1963.
