Apocalyptic dawn

Sunrise at Vestrahorn in Southern Iceland, the tide was out on this visit and while that didn't produce the complete reflections of the mountain range I was more than happy with what the tide had left behind.

 

Walking around here you feel that you should be sinking deep into the sand with its shallow covering of water but you don't, quite a curious feeling.. you do however have to be very careful where you walk with leaving footprints if you intend to come back and take images where you have already walked.. most of the shots I took this morning where a lot further away toward the sea than this one but I don't like leaving an area before I'm happy I haven't missed anything.

 

This was one of the last I shot here on this morning with the sand here rising out of the water just enough to give an S like pattern leading into the frame, surrounded by this eerie purple light and heavy drifting cloud, Like many other places we visited on this trip it certainly does have a quite magical feel to it.
