I'm not particularly fond of Microsoft as a corporation, for their politics (public and business practice) or their products, which I consider to be, for the most part, expensive bloatware. I haven't jumped ship to the Linux operating system yet, but I use the Firefox browser instead of Internet Explorer except for pages that just will not load under Mozilla (some parts of Flickr), and LibreOffice instead of MS Office at home.
I've had two updates to Firefox recently, and as a little 'thank you' for the inconvenience, they link you up to live web cameras in the Red Panda Cub exhibit at the Knoxville Zoo. This is a bit of a cute overload at work, but it's pleasant enough on a Sunday morning at home. Mozilla is sponsoring the cubs for three good reasons: it's a nice Public Relations move, the Red Panda is also known as the Firefox (get it?) and the fuzzy little critters are just so darned cute.
I started checking some of the live camera feeds this morning and noticed that one of the had frozen. Now, I do have a degree in Computer Science ("Back off man, I'm a Scientist!"), but I didn't need it to determine the cause of the problem, here. That's Microsoft Internet Explorer's equivalent of the dreaded 'Blue Screen of Death'. Hang your head, Steve Ballmer!
