In the days before the 5-kilowatt portable generators powered by lawn tractor engines (yes, there are two in my household) the single-cylinder 'one-lung' engine powered generators held sway. Fairbanks Morse, who made a name for themselves in the freight scale business, made many one-lung engines over the years. This is the first I have seen in a generator capacity.
