Intense Speed

This is Sid, he is a very elusive Tiercel (male) Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus anatum) making a high-speed turn out in front of my cliff-top monitoring station. He can be hard to spot because he is so fast and a third smaller than his Falcon (female) mate. After he made this turn he went into "attack mode" and dove repeatedly on his own (recently fledged) daughter who was below me on the cliff (see the previous photo in my stream). He dived bombed her several times while she was trying to reach her Falcon mother who was above her with a fresh-caught prey bird. She mantled her wings to try and escape harm from her father's attack. Fortunately, he did not harm her and she eventually made it up to the top of the plucking perch where her Mother fed her (see the previous photo in my stream).
