I wanted a happy picture for today. And somewhere I was reminded of this. Or perhaps it was the article in the Daily Mail which told the story of how some early computer 'art' recently sold for £ 49.8 million (yes, that's 49.8 million pounds if memory serves me right). It's an NFT (non-fungible token) called The First 5000 days, see www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9870203/Was-HARRY-WALLOP...

Well the NFT you are looking at is absolutely priceless to me. It dates back to the days when I often had a 'duty' weekend when I might immediately have to get up and go anywhere to deliver something. The spontaneous nature of the work was like an adventure to my two young boys who would often accompany me and give my wife some relief from them. It often meant going to the office at Manchester airport first to pick up paperwork. The boys loved that part as they knew there was a tuck box on top of the office stationery cupboard. And they could raid it.

I left them crouched side by side on my office chair poring over the old computer I had, and came back up into the office about twenty minutes later to find the two blonde terrors giggling and conniving together as they munched on fistfuls of sweet packets and crisps stolen from the tuck box that now lay upside down on the office floor. And excitedly they called, "Dad!" look at this as they proudly beamed at their work of art drawn with a mouse and displayed on screen. I could only smile broadly when I saw it, and I still do today, Russell Robin, and his side kick Rat Weasel about to adventure in The Land of Skegs............ straight out of their imagination,

That was all a long time ago and the two boys are now adults on opposite sides of the world. Their cheeky smiles live on through this picture. It warms my heart. £ 49.8 million? Nah, this one is priceless. Any offers?
