Wi-Fi, onna steeck - looking to the mothership
Testing the wi-fi for the meal tent at LI2009 - On the top of the mast is a 5GHz Ubiquiti NanoStation pointing back at an identical unit mounted on the roof of the west building in the background. A consumer-grade NetGear access point is providing 802.11n to client stations. test rig is being powered by a booster pack with a built-in inverter. Power consumption on this is low enough that it could be run from a solar panel.
In 2 days, there will be a tent here big enough to seat a couple thousand guests for lunch. And the sweet, sweet smell of Jack Stack BBQ.
