Landscaping Effects On Foundations
Trees, bushes, plants can affect a house's foundation adversely. The roots are located in the top 6 to 24 inches of the soil and occupy an area two to four times the diameter of the tree crown. The same can be said for bushes and plants as a general rule. This is not good for the foundation to have these roots so close. The second landscaping issue in this photo is the border. The border can trap and/or impede the movement of water away from the house.
