Lake Matheson

About:

Lake Matheson, most famous for it's picture of the Southern Alps reflecting in it's water, but the view from above is less known.

This was shot during my scenic flight tour over the Southern Alps, it's a real 'eyegasm' experience, took 180 pictures during the 45 min flight and I was not shooting continously! but also enjoying the scenery.

Technical stuff:

Exposure: 1/500 sec at f/5,6 at -1 EV

Taken with: Nikon D90 and 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 at 28

LR3 post processing: juggled with the sliders until I was happy with the colors, added a lot of recovery, contrast, boosted the blacks to +16, adjusted the tone to correct a slight magenta cast. Crop angle was also very important to have a pleasing composition (river running from bottom left to top right)
