Startrails @ Lake Tekapo
About:
My first shot at star trails, actually I didn't planned this, it just happened :) When I stayed at Lake Tekapo I wanted to photograph the milky way, because Lake Tekapo is known for excellent conditions for this (little stray light). But the with full moon it's impossible to capture the milky way properly, as I was awake I thought why not try a star trails picture. And this is the result.
Location:
Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake Tekapo, NZ
This image is also geotagged
Technical stuff:
94 pictures at 30 sec / f6.3 shot back-to-back
1 black frame
First frame was shot separately (the small dot at the start of some lines), I used a flashlight to put some light into the windows of the church, the church is purely moonlight exposed.
In Lightroom I added some extra exposure and Fill light to all pictures, this way I got a little more blue in the sky and the end result is a looks better.
Afterwards put it through StarTrails and did a high-pass sharpening on the foreground.
Improvements:
Do a pause between frames.
Usage:
All my images are copyrighted, if you want to use it for anything contact me first.
Any comments, criticism and tips are welcome.View On Black
