Arctic Skua / Parasitic Jaeger (Stercorarius parasiticus) - Longyearbyen, Spitzbergen, Svalbard, Norway.
One of a mixed pair of a dark and this light morph. Still trying to breed in the Lonyeardalen despite being constantly harassed by unknowing cruise ship tourists taking a short cut from the harbour to the town. Yesterday I saw three groups of day-trippers try to cross the remnant tundra in the town and each time they were driven away by the pair of Skua's. On the surface quite comical to see them failing to swat the birds and eventually running away, funny that is if it wasn't so sad that these could be the last pair that breed in the valley due to development.
