Stranger #23 - Kathy

I saw Kathy sitting by herself cross-legged eating lunch by a really large window. She had such a peaceful demeanor about her. I interrupted her and asked if I could take her portrait. She agreed to do so and I sat along side her and we started a conversation that lasted 30 minutes or so. She came from the San Diego area and was there for the conference with a cousin, friend and a neighbor.

We talked a little about hobbies and I expressed how I really enjoyed photography. "I like photography," she tells me, "but not as much as you do."

She pulled out her camera and showed me these gorgeous pictures of Crater Lake. She also showed me photos of friends and her husband.

We talked about God, death and having a heart of peace when life is difficult. Throughout the whole conversation, I felt as though I was talking to someone who I had known a long time. She is a beautiful lady but her personality seemed to outshine her natural beauty.

This picture is #23 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at www.flickr.com/groups/100strangers/
