Stranger #6 - Nelia
This is Nelia and I met her over the weekend. Her energy and laughter is so contagious. She is from Australia and expressed her excitement to be in the U.S. What is so funny is that she asked folks standing around her if she could take pictures of them so that she could send them to Australia. When she asked me, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to ask her to participate in this project.
When I appeared with my camera, her energy level increased another notch. I took a series of snapshots and in between shots she expressed her love for California.
Nelia is here on a 30-day assignment. She works as a nurse or a nurse's aid -- can't remember which. All four of her children are grown and the youngest one is 23 years-old. She has had two husbands but they are both deceased. Now she has a boyfriend in Colorado and she is quite happy with him.
I must confess that meeting strangers like Nelia have not been difficult. In fact, it has been interesting and a pleasure to meet the first six. I'm hoping the other 94 are just as pleasant.
