"Through the looking glass, make a memory"

- Charlotte Reynolds

Where do our memories live? Experts say that there's not one specific instance in the brain for their storage. Instead, it seems that what we call a “memory” is like a web of data distributed for several places inside our minds. Recalling it is much more than to open a drawer and catch what is inside. It is a complicated exercise of joining, and producing something understandable, from a diverse collection of elements, stored in different rooms, cabinets and drawers, under various levels of availability - perhaps some of them temporarily not available, or not available at all. This complexity has curious effects. For instance, losing a memory is not necessarily an all-or-nothing, or permanent, event; on the other hand, our recallings are often inaccurate and incomplete, frequently biased, and sometimes false. Funny… I do not see any difference between this and the Cloud.
