Lafarge Aggregates, Gateshead - 155/365
Lafarge Aggregates, Gateshead - I think anyone who has stopped for a pint in the Free Trade, or walked along the redeveloped quayside, will be aware of this blot on the landscape. And I bet the occupants of those posh new flats opposite just love their view! However, like much urban industrialisation, I think it takes on a certain charm under the right light and from a flattering angle - let me know what you think.
Lafarge was founded in 1833 in Paris and now located in 75 countries, with a workforce of 80,000 people. They are a world leader in building materials, specialising in Cement, Roofing, Aggregates & Concrete. Lafarge UK supplies essential raw materials such as concrete, asphalt, rock, sand and gravel to build houses, hospitals, schools and offices as well as our transport networks and the infrastructure of our power and water systems.

I couldn't find anything on the history of the actual Gateshead site.
