Kenninji experience

The afternoon sun highlights the beautifully carved details on one of the buildings at Kenninji, the oldest Zen Buddhism temple in Kyoto, Japan. Kenninji is one of Kyoto Gozan or "five most important Zen temples of Kyoto".

I took my time exploring and ended up spending most of the day there. It was an incredible experience.

Zen emphasises rigorous self-control, meditation-practice, insight into the nature of things, and the personal expression of this insight in daily life, especially for the benefit of others. I am not religious at all, but I certainly recognise these elements in the way that I practice my photography.
