Sharp-tailed Grouse Display - Tympanuchus phasianellus - Grasslands National Park

We arrived at the lek site before dawn and parked our car off to the side, half in a ditch. Then we crawled under it and waited for the sun to rise and the grouse to start displaying. At first we were still and silent, barely moving to secure photos. Soon we realized the grouse didn’t care about us or the car as they spun and called as near as a couple metres away, often too close for our telephoto lenses.
