Least Sandpiper at Charwell Point, Prince Edward County | Calidris minutilla | Bécasseau minuscule

A few songbirds are still moving through southern Ontario in much reduced numbers, but right now (at least where I am) shorebird migration is picking up. Yesterday a couple Leasts were all I saw, but today I had Black-bellied Plover, American Golden Plover, Whimbrel, Dunlin, Semipalmated Sandpiper and a special bonus - Piping Plover!

Piping Plover is a rare bird in Ontario, and I am awaiting word on its provenance based on the band sequence I have forwarded to the people organizing the species' recovery program.
