Desert Lark | Ammomanes deserti phoenicuroides

We found this bird at Akal Wood Fossil Park, near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan at the extreme eastern edge of its range, which stretches 9000 kilometres to the west, all the way to Mauritania where Africa meets the Atlantic Ocean.

With such a huge territory, it is not surprising that the International Union for Conservation of Nature places Desert Lark in the Least Concern category, and notes that outside of Europe its population might actually be increasing.
