DSC01234 Dipper on R Ely

The cold weather brought several unusual birds, including this Dipper, to this suburban stretch of the ELY River, in Fairwater, Cardiff (at Birdies Lane).

 

Unfortunately the bird turned its back to me as I pressed the shutter, and then flew too far to photograph.

 

On the same day 3 Water Rails and a Goosander were present.
