Sweet Spot Squared
Star-shaped ice cream sprinkles made a great test for my macro lens's sweet spot. The stars are approximately 2 mm across and I scattered them on a piece of black fibreboard.
I tested my lens from an aperture of f/3.5 to f/40 in 1/3 f-stop increments and found that the optimum sharpness (unsurprisingly) was between f/8 and f/11 with f/10 being about the sharpest.
